I’ve been a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 30 years. Being certified as an LSVT LOUD Clinician was the smartest move I ever made! Seeing what LSVT LOUD therapy does to help people living with Parkinson’s disease has been more rewarding and useful for my patients than any other traditional speech therapy approach. All they need is Loud!
Although I have been working with patients who are living with Parkinson’s disease for many years, I learn something new about Parkinson’s every time I have recertified in LSVT LOUD. The course reminds me of the many challenges people living with Parkinson’s face daily and how important it is that I cheer them on to loudness. If I don’t, who will? When we finish the 16 sessions and a patient’s wife says, “You sound like the man I married 35 years ago” that makes ME feel like the best therapist in the world!
I’ve always been proud to say that “I am a Certified LSVT LOUD Clinician” when I am a guest speaker at a support group meeting or visiting with a neurologist on behalf of a patient. I know that LSVT LOUD therapy has the ability to give a person control over their communication again and, often, that is a gift that just keeps on giving.
