Short description of what you do:
I am a full time Associate Professor at Franklin Pierce University in Goodyear, Arizona where I am the head of the orthopedic department. My research has been focused on interventions in the orthopedic and neurological patient population. I am the co-owner of Impact Physical Therapy and the Impact Institute where my time is focused on leadership development, course development and course instruction. I have been a part of LSVT Global’s teaching faculty since 2011.
How long have you been with LSVT Global?
I started with LSVT Global in 2011 when my son was 3 weeks old! He’s now 12. 😊
What is your favorite part of the job/what do you enjoy most?
I love connecting, empowering and bringing LSVT BIG to clinicians all over the world. The impact that the program has had on myself, my patients, my staff is easy to then want to teach other clinicans about because of the phenomal outcomes.
Tell us a little about yourself!
I have two very active and engaged kids, Jackson (12) and Natalie (10). My favorite quote right now is “I’m sorry bestie we can’t hang out, my kids are living their best lives and I’m their chauffeur”. Laughs aside, I love being in this phase of life and being an integral part of their life. We love to travel as a family when we aren’t at sporting events! My husband and I love working out together, traveling and enjoying a nice bottle of champagne or wine!

I love homemade chocolate chip cookies.
I can’t think of a better physical therapist to highlight during PT appreciation month than Dr. Tamera Hefferon. So many adjectives come to mind when I think of Tami: Energetic, Passionate, Fearless, and Funny! Tami is so enthusiastic about her academic and LSVT BIG teaching. She is an explosion of energy and draws her students in through facts, clinical examples, and humor while pushing them to problem solve and think for themselves. She prioritizes breaking down myths and/or the status quo in physical therapy practice when evidence suggests better, science-based methods. She is an overachiever and willing to take on new challenges as evidenced by her diverse and ample professional accomplishments. On the personal side, she is full of smiles and laughter. Tami has a great zest for life, unyielding support of her colleagues, and love of her family and friends. It has been a joyous adventure to have Tami in our LSVT Global family!
