LSVT Team Member Spotlight: Catherine Airiau, Orthophoniste

Catherine Airiau, Orthophoniste, LSVT Global Representative, France

Short description of what you do:

I am primarily a speech therapist, I work both privately, and in a hospital neurology department. I became a trainer in the speech therapy department of Brest and I organize training for paramedical professionals within the LOGOTOP organization.

I am also the French correspondent for the LSVT Global team and am required to present the LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG rehabilitation protocols in France. Organizing training sessions represents a large part of the work.

How long have you been with LSVT Global?

Ten years ago, my first contact with LSVT Global was a bit of a coincidence. I responded to an email explaining that the American team wanted to return to France to train speech therapists and I offered to do so. I am lucky to be surrounded by charming and efficient young colleagues.

I am very proud and honored of the trust they place in me and my team.

Team LOGOTOP

What is your favorite part of your job?

Working in the unique field of neurology to acquire a kind of expertise but above all working with different teams and thus enriching your knowledge to then offer the most appropriate and effective care for patients.

Transmitting my knowledge and presenting rehabilitation methods is also very important to me.

Tell us a little about yourself!

I love my job but knowing that I have always had an aversion to boredom, I need regular changes in order to always remain motivated and dynamic. I have to admit that the same is true for my life in general. Routine is not part of my daily life. I’m curious.

I currently live by the sea on a vacation spot (in France in the Brittany region) and consider it a privilege.

My favorite past time:

Singing is my favorite pastime, I have been practicing it for 15 years (lyrical singing then more recently pop-rock) a real joy!

Catherine initially forged a connection with LSVT Global when she enthusiastically responded to our request for a new French host. This marked the beginning of a decade-long journey of collaboration and friendship. Catherine, first and foremost, is an exceptionally talented and dedicated speech therapist. Her commitment to continuous learning and enhancing patient care is evident, with LSVT training serving as a testament to her ongoing pursuit of excellence. Beyond her professional achievements, Catherine is adventurous and always engaged with activities ranging from sailing to singing. She is caring, supportive and great fun. She also delights us with her knowledge of and connections with champagne!  Thank you, Catherine, for all you have done to uplift and support LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG in France!  We couldn’t do it without you.
